As a Stacker at the Durban Rice Plant, you are a vital part of the production line. You are responsible for the final physical handling of products before they are dispatched. Your role ensures that every pallet is structurally sound, every package is correctly labeled, and the overall quality of PepsiCoโs iconic brands is maintained through rigorous inspection and compliance with safety standards.
๐ Key Responsibilities
Pallet & Product Management
- Inspection: Examine pallets for damage prior to stacking. Ensure the correct pallet size is used and covered with protective pallet sheets.
- Stacking: Neatly arrange products according to specific pallet configurations to ensure stability during transport.
- Accuracy: Verify that the correct number of packets are in each bale and that barcode labels match the product.
Quality Control & Food Safety
- Product Integrity: Inspect items for damages or quality defects.
- Traceability: Carefully check that the date codes are printed correctly on all packaging.
- Compliance: Strictly follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all food safety regulations.
- Reporting: Immediately alert your supervisor to any food safety or quality non-conformances.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Workplace Standards: Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times.
- Safety Protocols: Comply with all site safety rules and proactively report any “near misses” to prevent future accidents.
โ Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent NQF 4 qualification.
- Experience: At least 12 months of experience in a similar manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with health and safety standards within a food production facility.
