🎯 Purpose of the Role
Zibuke OnCall is seeking an experienced, trade-tested, and licensed Plumber to join their technical operations. This is not an entry-level or learn-on-the-job position. You must be fully qualified and capable of independently diagnosing issues, quoting, and completing high-standard residential and commercial plumbing jobs with zero callbacks.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
Technical Plumbing & Maintenance
- Geyser & Heating Systems: Execute geyser replacements and repairs, including electrical elements, thermostats, valves, and safety systems.
- Fixtures & Fittings: Repair and replace taps, mixers, showerheads, water-saving devices, toilets, cisterns, and flush mechanisms.
- Pipework & Drains: Unblock drains, sewer lines, and stormwater systems; repair burst pipes, leaking joints, and water supply lines.
- Water Systems: Install and repair water storage tanks, pressure pumps, and rainwater harvesting infrastructure.
Professionalism & Operational Execution
- Work Ownership: Take full responsibility for all completed work with high quality, no shortcuts, and no callbacks.
- Punctuality & Communication: Show up on time, meet estimated job timeframes, and communicate clearly with home and business owners.
- Documentation: Capture digital photos, job notes, and obtain customer sign-offs upon completion of every job card.
- Asset Care: Maintain company tools, assigned vehicles, and clean work sites.
✅ Minimum Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
- Trade Qualification: Valid Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal) in Plumbing.
- PIRB Registration: Current, active PIRB (Plumbing Industry Registration Board) registration in good standing (proof required).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of post-trade test experience in residential and commercial plumbing.
- Licensing & ID: Valid South African ID and a valid Code B driver’s license (Code C1 or EC1 is advantageous).
- Tools: Ownership of basic plumbing hand tools (specialized tools and materials are provided by Zibuke OnCall).
- Languages: Fluent in English and at least one other South African language (isiZulu, Sesotho, Setswana, isiXhosa, or Afrikaans).
- Clearances & Fitness: Clear criminal record (background checks will be conducted) and physically fit to work at heights, in confined spaces, or in varying weather conditions.
🌟 Preferred & Advantageous Qualifications
- Solar geyser and heat pump installation experience.
- Gas installation certificate (LP Gas) registered with SAQCC Gas.
- Borehole pump, pressure pump, and water reticulation experience.
- Certifications in specialized pipe welding (copper, PVC, MDPE).
- Previous experience working for home warranty, insurance, or emergency home service companies.
- Supervisory or team lead experience.
