🎯 Purpose of the Role
As a Cashier in the Frontline Department at Brights Hardware Plattekloof, you serve as the primary point of contact during the customer checkout process. Your main purpose is to process customer transactions swiftly, accurately, and politely—adhering strictly to register procedures, cash drop protocols, and security guidelines to enhance customer satisfaction and support the growth of the business.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
Point of Sale & Transactions
- Accurate Scanning: Ensure all items are scanned accurately and efficiently on the cash register systems.
- Payment Processing: Handle cash payments, verify cash received, and process Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT).
- Promotions & Loyalty: Stay informed on active store promotions, issue gift cards, check customer reward cards, and process reward point redemptions.
- Packing: Safely pack customer purchases into shopping bags.
Cash Control & Frontline Security
- Cash Ups & Drops: Follow daily cash-up procedures accurately and hand over cash drops to supervisors in line with security measures.
- Loss Prevention: Maintain strong vigilance and awareness regarding suspicious customer behavior around the checkout area.
Departmental & Administrative Duties
- Till Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming checkout workspace.
- Stocktakes: Participate in routine and perpetual stock count exercises.
- General Support: Perform additional work-related tasks assigned by frontline supervisors or store management.
✅ Job Requirements
- Education: Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar cashier or till operator role (retail or hardware context preferred).
- Clearances: Clear credit score (compulsory for handling cash and financial transactions).
- Induction: Completion of Brights Service Excellence Induction upon joining.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible retail shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required by store operations.
