🎯 Purpose of the Job
As a Global Grade 08 Mechanic, you are a senior technical expert responsible for the end-to-end maintenance of heavy Earthmoving Equipment. Whether on-site at a customer’s location or within a Barloworld workshop, you will ensure the optimal availability and performance of machines through precision disassembly, diagnosis, and repair. This role demands a high level of technical mastery and the ability to represent the brand professionally in the field.
🔑 Key Outputs
Technical Maintenance & Repairs
- Full Cycle Service: Carry out disassembly, inspection, and assembly for scheduled services and major repairs on Earthmoving Equipment.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose complex machine system failures efficiently to minimize downtime and maximize machine utilization.
- Inspections: Conduct Machine Inspections and Technical Analysis (TA1 & TA2), providing detailed findings and recommendations.
Standards & Compliance
- OEM Excellence: Maintain ultimate quality standards in line with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications.
- Contamination Control: Strictly adhere to BWE Contamination Control principles and ISO Quality systems to protect sensitive machine components.
- Safety: Lead by example in ensuring all work is performed under the highest safety standards.
Administrative & Reporting
- Technical Writing: Compile accurate, professional reports on machine conditions and repairs.
- Admin Control: Manage personal labor bookings, service reports, parts returns, and expenses accurately.
- Warranty: Apply a solid understanding of supplier warranty systems, policies, and procedures when assessing repairs.
✅ Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric).
- Trade Qualification: Qualified Red Seal Trade Certificate (Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic or Diesel Mechanic).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience specifically working on Caterpillar machines.
- Technical Proficiency: * Mastery of Caterpillar equipment systems and operation.
- Ability to read and interpret complex system schematics.
- Proficiency in CAT software: SIS (Service Information System), STW (Service Technician Workbench), and ET (Electronic Technician).
- Licensing: Valid Code B Driver’s License.
