Role Purpose
First Technology Polokwane is seeking a proactive and highly skilled IT Technician to join our dynamic technical support team. You will be responsible for the end-to-end IT health of our diverse client base, delivering both onsite and remote support. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in hardware, networking, and cloud services, combined with the communication skills necessary to provide world-class customer service.
Key Areas of Impact
Technical Support & Administration
- Multichannel Support: Provide expert onsite and remote IT support, managing multiple support tickets through to resolution.
- Systems Maintenance: Perform hardware and software troubleshooting, installations, and preventative maintenance across client environments.
- Cloud Integration: Assist with the deployment and ongoing maintenance of Microsoft cloud offerings (O365 and Azure).
Network & Security Management
- Connectivity & Infrastructure: Provide networking support, including diagnostics and configuration of routers, switches, and access points (APs).
- Security Oversight: Support and maintain firewalls and implement robust end-point protection and management solutions to safeguard client data.
- Assessments: Conduct comprehensive site assessments and compile documentation to recommend technical improvements and hardware refreshes.
Client Relationship Management
- Communication: Perform daily client follow-ups to communicate ticket updates effectively and ensure high satisfaction levels.
- Independence: Work autonomously to identify system sub-performance and proactively implement non-conformance corrections.
What You Need to Succeed
Minimum Requirements
- Experience: A minimum of 2+ years’ experience in a similar IT support or Managed Services (MSP) role.
- Cloud Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Office 365 (O365) administration.
- Networking: Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and experience with Firewalls and APs.
- Security: Experience with endpoint security tools and threat management.
Essential Skills & Abilities
- Mobility: Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport (essential for frequent onsite client visits).
- Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills with a “client-first” mindset.
- Efficiency: Proven ability to manage multiple support tickets simultaneously under pressure.
