Role Purpose
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a reputable and dedicated Pharmacist for our Tubatse store in Burgersfort. In this role, you will take full responsibility for our patients’ medicine-related needs. You are not just dispensing medication; you are providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care, ensuring clinical safety, and acting as a trusted health advisor within the community.
Key Responsibilities
Pharmaceutical Care & Clinical Excellence
- Dispensing Leadership: Accurately interpret and dispense prescriptions while maintaining strict accountability for the preparation work of interns and assistants.
- Clinical Evaluation: Assess patient needs by determining the safety, effectiveness, and indication of therapy.
- Patient Advice: Furnish expert information regarding medicine use, potential drug interactions, and dosage instructions.
- Pharmacist-Initiated Therapy: Provide professional advice and therapy initiation at the self-medication counter.
Dispensary Operations & Compliance
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all pharmacy acts, GPP (Good Pharmacy Practice), and legislative requirements are met daily.
- Script Management: Capture script details with high precision, verifying patient profiles and clinical history on the system.
- Medical Aid Liaison: Manage claims, resolve rejected scripts, and ensure authorizations for chronic, HIV/AIDS, and oncology medications are obtained.
- Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, report out-of-stock items to the Dispensary Manager, and facilitate bi-annual stock takes.
Professionalism & Public Health
- Referral & Triage: Evaluate disease conditions and refer patients to in-store health facilities (Clinic) or doctors when necessary.
- Research & Growth: Stay updated on medical aid procedures and pharmaceutical research to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Leadership: Act as a mentor to pharmacy students and interns, leading by example in ethics and professionalism.
What You Need to Succeed
Essential Requirements
- Education: BPharm Degree (or equivalent).
- Accreditation: Current registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Experience: 2–3 years in a retail pharmacy environment (including Intern/Community Service time).
- Technical Skills: Computer literacy (MS Office).
- Mobility: Valid Driver’s License and reliable transport.
Advantageous Qualities
- Proficiency in Unisolv, SAP, or E-scripting platforms.
- Experience as a Registered Tutor with the SAPC.
- Proficiency in a third additional language relevant to the Limpopo region.
