Role Purpose
Join a high-performance, innovation-led FinTech organization as a Financial Accountant. This role offers a unique opportunity to manage the full financial accounting function for a diverse group structure, including multiple foreign subsidiaries. You will be at the heart of the finance team, providing the technical expertise and analytical insights necessary to support a fast-paced, international business.
Key Areas of Impact
Group Financial Management
- Multi-Entity Accounting: Manage cashbooks, bank reconciliations, and fixed assets across various companies and foreign currencies.
- Consolidations: Oversee group-wide financial records, ensuring accuracy across foreign subsidiaries and diverse reporting structures.
- Asset Lifecycle: Maintain the fixed asset register and manage complex depreciation schedules.
Operational Finance & Payroll
- Full-Cycle AR/AP: Manage debtor invoicing, creditor reconciliations, and customer relationship management.
- Payroll Oversight: Process monthly salaries, wages, and benefits (Retirement Annuities), including the associated journals.
- General Ledger: Prepare journal entries for accruals, provisions, and prepayments; manage credit card transactions and employee reimbursements.
Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate submission of all regulatory and statutory reports in line with IFRS.
- Taxation: Complete VAT calculations and reconciliations; process PAYE, UIF, and SDL payments.
- Audit Readiness: Assist with year-end audit processes and act as a point of contact for external auditors.
Financial Insights
- Analytics: Conduct monthly variance reports and analytical reviews to provide management with actionable financial insights.
- Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare and present detailed financial reports to key stakeholders and senior management.
What You Need to Succeed
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting or bookkeeping.
- Articles: Completion of SAICA/SAIPA articles is highly preferred.
- Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of IFRS and South African financial regulations.
- Systems: Proficiency in Sage Intacct or Sage 300.
