We are looking for an energetic and skilled Technician (Workshop and Mobile) to join our Cape Town team. Key Areas of Impact
Technical Diagnostics & Repair
- Root Cause Analysis: Observe and test machinery to diagnose malfunctions using voltmeters and advanced testing devices.
- Mechanical & Electrical Repair: Disassemble equipment, replace malfunctioning components, and reassemble with precision.
- Preventative Maintenance: Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts to prevent excessive wear and ensure longevity.
- Refrigeration Specialty: Perform technical repairs on industrial refrigeration units.
Testing & Quality Assurance
- Validation: Test newly repaired equipment to verify that all repairs meet BCE’s adequacy and safety standards.
- Component Inspection: Examine parts for breakage or defects before reassembly.
Administration & Documentation
- Detailed Reporting: Provide comprehensive reports on diagnosis, part assessments, failure observations, and final recommendations.
- Inventory Control: Record materials used and requisition new parts through SAP to maintain workshop efficiency.
- Compliance: Ensure all OHS procedures are followed and all documentation is completed accurately before initiating repairs.
Customer Service Excellence
- Relationship Management: Act as a brand ambassador, managing customer expectations and delivering quality service even under high-pressure “standby” situations.
What You Need to Succeed
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) and a relevant technical qualification (Electrical or Mechanical).
- Experience: 3 – 5 years of technical experience in a workshop or field repair environment. This must include equipment assembly, repairs, and part quoting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in refrigeration repairs and a high level of hand/power tool dexterity.
Key Competencies
- Systems Knowledge: PC literate with working knowledge of SAP, MS Excel, and Word.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels.
- Adaptability: Ability to work standby and overtime when required to support our clients’ 24/7 operations.
- Problem Solving: A proactive approach to troubleshooting complex catering equipment.
Knowledge & Safety
- Sound knowledge of the OHS Act.
- Understanding of customer service principles.
- Advantageous: Prior experience or product application knowledge of industrial catering equipment.
