🎯 Purpose of the Role
As a Reach Truck Driver in the busy Maydon Wharf industrial hub, you are responsible for the precise movement of goods in a high-density warehouse. Unlike a standard forklift, a reach truck is designed for narrow aisles and high-shelf storage. Your role is critical for maximizing warehouse space while maintaining the highest levels of safety and inventory accuracy.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Safety
- Safe Handling: Operate the reach truck to load and unload materials from high-level racking systems (often exceeding 10 meters).
- Pre-shift Inspections: Conduct mandatory daily safety checks on the reach truck and immediately report any mechanical or hydraulic issues.
- Compliance: Adhere strictly to Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines to prevent accidents in a fast-paced environment.
Warehouse & Inventory Management
- Precision Stacking: Accurately place and retrieve pallets within designated storage locations to ensure inventory integrity.
- Stock Movement: Assist the warehouse team with moving materials to and from dispatch and receiving bays.
- Organization: Maintain a clean and organized work zone to ensure efficient traffic flow within the warehouse aisles.
Communication & Teamwork
- Reporting: Provide clear updates to supervisors regarding stock discrepancies or storage challenges.
- Collaboration: Work closely with floor pickers and warehouse clerks to meet daily outbound targets.
✅ Qualifications & Requirements
- Certification: Valid Reach Truck Operator Certification (Mandatory).
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Matric).
- Experience: Proven experience operating a reach truck specifically in a warehouse or distribution center setting.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle the physical demands of manual lifting when necessary.
