Role Purpose
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for an experienced Cashier to provide a world-class shopping experience at our Sasolburg/Meyerton branch. As the final point of contact for our customers, you are responsible for recording transactions with 100% accuracy, eliminating fraud risk, and ensuring our “5-Star Communication Principles” are upheld during every interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Point of Sale (POS) Operations
- Transactional Accuracy: Process all payments (cash, bank cards, vouchers, and coupons) through the Dis-Chem operating system according to strict SOPs.
- Loyalty Integration: Manage complex transactions involving loyalty partners, including Discovery HealthyCare, eBucks, ABSA Rewards, Momentum Multiply, and Medihelp.
- Security & Fraud Prevention: Ensure cash is secured in drop safes regularly; maintain strict confidentiality of your unique user codes and daily takings.
- Returns & Voids: Manage merchandise exchanges and authorized returns; ensure all line voids and price changes are signed off by the Frontline Supervisor.
Customer Excellence
- Service Standards: Establish professional relationships with shoppers and adhere to Dis-Chem’s 5-Star communication principles.
- Product Knowledge: Stay informed on current sales, promotions, and store merchandise to assist with customer queries.
- Complaint Resolution: Efficiently report customer feedback, compliments, and complaints to management to ensure continuous service improvement.
Compliance & Safety
- Risk Management: Monitor your environment for suspicious behavior and report security concerns immediately.
- Operating Standards: Adhere to the customer turnover hourly rate to minimize queue wait times without sacrificing service quality.
What You Need to Succeed
Essential Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric).
- Experience: Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations.
- Numeracy: Sound mathematical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Communication: Strong command of English; an additional third language is highly advantageous.
- Tech Savvy: Computer literate (MS Office) with the ability to learn complex POS systems quickly.
