Role Purpose
Dis-Chem Pharmacies is looking for an energetic and organized Merchandiser to join our Lambton Gardens team. Your mission is to ensure that our products are always available, perfectly presented, and easy for our customers to find. You will be the engine behind our store’s visual standards, combining physical stock management with exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
Stock Management & Flow
- Restocking & Rotation: Ensure the full range of products is available on shelves at all times. Facilitate regular stock rotation using the FIFO (First-In-First-Out) principle.
- Integrity & Expiry: Monitor sell-by dates rigorously to ensure no expired stock remains on shelves. Report damaged or low-stock items to management immediately.
- Logistics Support: Assist with the loading and off-loading of stock and ensure delivered items are packed into their correct locations timeously.
Visual Merchandising & Compliance
- Planogram Adherence: Maintain store layouts and build displays according to Dis-Chem’s official planograms and operating standards.
- Pricing & Labeling: Ensure every product on the front shop shelves is neatly presented with the correct labels and pricing. Report any discrepancies to management.
- Housekeeping: Maintain the daily physical upkeep of your designated shop floor area and storeroom space.
Customer Service Excellence
- Front-line Assistance: Provide friendly, helpful, and professional advice to all customers.
- Query Resolution: Follow up on “out of stock” queries using the official customer service list and ensure all shopper questions are resolved satisfactorily.
- Team Support: Assist in the onboarding and training of new staff members.
What You Need to Succeed
Essential Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric).
- Experience: Up to 6 months of retail experience (FMCG experience is a major plus).
- Physical Fitness: Must be able to lift and move heavy boxes and stand for extended periods.
- Skills: Basic computer literacy (MS Office) and a strong command of English.
- Mobility: Reliable transport and the ability to work flexible retail hours (including weekends and public holidays).
