🎯 Purpose of the Role

As a Logistics Coordinator for SSK—a leading agricultural co-operative—you will be at the heart of the supply chain for essential farming inputs. Your role is to ensure that fertilizer, seeds, and soil supplements are procured at competitive prices and delivered to farmers and stores exactly when needed. This position combines strategic procurement and supplier negotiation with hands-on store management and team leadership.


🔑 Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain & Procurement

  • Ordering: Place and manage purchase orders for fertilizer, seed, and supplements based on seasonal operational needs.
  • Supplier Management: Source new suppliers and negotiate competitive pricing for both products and delivery logistics.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor market price fluctuations to provide competitive client quotes while protecting company profit margins.
  • Logistics: Coordinate the timely collection and delivery of products from suppliers directly to customers or the store.

Operations & Team Leadership

  • Personnel Management: Oversee daily store operations and manage store personnel to ensure productivity.
  • Inventory Control: Lead regular stock counts and maintain meticulous inventory records to minimize variances.
  • Site Maintenance: Ensure the security, cleanliness, and maintenance of all store equipment, buildings, and premises.

Client & Admin Support

  • Relationship Building: Work closely with the marketing team to maintain and grow professional relationships with agricultural clients.
  • Administration: Handle all necessary departmental paperwork and reporting.

✅ Requirements

  • Education:Grade 12 (Matric) is essential.
    • Advantageous: A post-matric qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Agriculture.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in logistics or agricultural retail.
    • Advantageous: 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation skills and the ability to work under the pressure of agricultural planting seasons.
