Role Overview
Hire Resolve is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Estimator to join a dynamic construction team in Durban. This role is essential for the success of various civil engineering projects, requiring a candidate who can master the full tender lifecycle—from initial site briefings to post-tender cost control.
The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical site knowledge and precise financial estimation, utilizing industry-standard software to deliver winning bids.
Key Responsibilities
- Tender Management: Assist the Tender Coordinator in identifying opportunities, acquiring documents, and attending compulsory site briefings.
- Documentation & Scoping: Review contract data, specifications, and drawings to prepare comprehensive tender scope summaries.
- BOQ & Pricing: Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and import data into CCS Candy; review drawings to verify and calculate quantities accurately.
- Procurement Support: Segment BOQs into trade packages, manage the RFQ process, and evaluate sub-contractor quotations.
- Technical Submissions: Draft returnable tender documents, including method statements, technical approaches, risk management plans, and tender programs using MS Projects.
- Financial Control: Perform rate estimation and post-tender cost control, including “Cost vs. Allowable” assessments and reporting.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: A Degree or BTech in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in the Civil Engineering/Construction industry. Candidates with a blend of on-site and office-based estimating experience are highly preferred.
- Technical Skills:
- Expert proficiency in CCS Candy (Estimating and Cost Control).
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Projects and Excel.
- Contract Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of industry standard frameworks, including FIDIC, GCC, and JBCC.
