🎯 Purpose of the Job
As a General Worker Picker, you are a critical link in the supply chain. Your primary goal is to ensure that every order is picked accurately according to the picking slip, moved to the checking lanes, and secured (sealed or wrapped) for transport. This role requires a high level of physical stamina and a commitment to meeting daily production targets.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
Picking & Staging
- Accurate Picking: Correctly identify and select products as specified on the picking slip.
- Order Staging: Move picked products to the designated checking lanes for verification.
- Packaging: Securely seal or wrap products once they have been checked by the supervisor to prevent damage or loss during transit.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Safe Practices: Adhere to all health and safety regulations to prevent workplace injuries.
- Warehouse Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized work area (housekeeping) to ensure efficient movement within the warehouse.
- SOP Compliance: Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistency and quality in the picking process.
✅ Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) certificate.
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of experience working in a warehouse environment.
- Availability: Must be willing to work Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays as per business requirements.
🧠 Skills and Competencies
- Numerical Ability: Necessary for accurately counting stock and verifying quantities against picking slips.
- Attention to Detail: High accuracy is required to ensure the correct products are sent to customers.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to work in a fast-paced, pressurized environment with a strong sense of urgency.
- Equipment Knowledge: Familiarity with basic warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jacks or hand-held scanners).
