Role Purpose

Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will play a vital role in providing holistic treatment and support for individuals navigating mental health challenges. Key Areas of Impact
Clinical Care & Monitoring
- Quality Nursing: Deliver safe, high-quality care within the legislative scope of practice for Registered Nurses.
- Observation & Assessment: Assess and monitor patient health and behavioral changes, providing critical data to the broader Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).
- Medication Management: Administer prescribed medications and educate patients on their importance, side effects, and compliance requirements.
Therapeutic Support & Environment
- Therapy Facilitation: Assist patients in processing therapeutic interventions and ensure strict compliance with daily schedules and activities.
- Safe Environment: Maintain a supportive physical and psychological environment that prioritizes patient safety and emotional stability.
- Compliance: Ensure all care aligns with the Mental Healthcare Act No. 17 of 2002.
Collaborative Excellence
- Interdisciplinary Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and other clinicians to achieve consistently positive patient outcomes.
- Leadership: Exercise ethical leadership and integrity within the nursing unit, assisting with financial control and continuous service improvement.
What You Need to Succeed
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Diploma or Degree in General Nursing Science with Psychiatry.
- Professional Registration: Current registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Experience: Previous experience within a Mental Health/Psychiatric environment is highly advantageous.
- References: Must provide at least three (3) contactable professional references.
