Role Purpose
Empact Group is seeking a dedicated and versatile Food Service Assistant to join our team in Parow. This role is designed for a service-minded individual who can handle the dual demands of a professional catering operation: supporting the culinary team with food production and delivering a world-class front-of-house experience for our clients. You will ensure that every task is performed with strict adherence to Health & Safety and Food Safety regulations.
Key Areas of Impact
Food Production & Kitchen Support
- Culinary Assistance: Perform a variety of basic food preparation tasks to support the chefs and ensure production timelines are met.
- Back-of-House Discipline: Assist in maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including equipment sanitation and workstations.
- Safety Protocols: Ensure 100% compliance with Food Safety (HACCP) standards and general workplace safety rules.
Front-of-House Service
- Customer Interaction: Deliver friendly, courteous, and efficient service to clients and customers.
- Service Area Maintenance: Ensure that serving stations are restocked, clean, and presented according to Empact’s visual standards.
- Professional Presence: Take immense pride in personal hygiene and appearance, serving as a professional representative of the brand.
Operational Support
- All-Round Support: Provide general assistance across both the front and back of house as operational requirements shift throughout the day.
- Problem Solving: Identify and address service needs or safety hazards immediately to maintain a seamless operation.
What You Need to Succeed
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Matric (Grade 12) is essential.
- Experience: Previous working experience in the Hospitality Industry is mandatory.
- Skills: Knowledge of basic food preparation techniques and strong verbal communication skills.
Advantageous Qualities
- A formal qualification in Food & Beverage or Culinary Arts.
- Prior experience in a dedicated customer service role.
- A passion for excellence and a “can-do” attitude in high-pressure environments.
