Role Purpose
In the specialized sector of Food Hygiene, trust and compliance are the foundations of every partnership. As a Business Development Consultant, you will refine and execute sales and marketing strategies to grow our market share. You will be responsible for identifying new growth opportunities, managing complex bid processes, and ensuring that Bidvest Prestige remains the preferred partner for food-safe cleaning solutions.
Main Outputs & Responsibilities
Strategic Sales & Lead Generation
- Market Pursuit: Actively identify, pursue, and engage potential high-value clients within the food manufacturing, processing, and hospitality sectors.
- Tender Management: Lead the compilation and drafting of high-quality, compliant proposals and tender responses.
- Pipeline Management: Follow up on leads generated via marketing channels and cold calling, ensuring a robust sales funnel.
- Strategic Initiatives: Implement growth initiatives to meet and exceed annual targets, focusing on increasing market share within the Food Hygiene segment.
Collaboration & Market Analysis
- Regional Liaison: Maintain deep knowledge of existing contracts through weekly alignment meetings with Regional General Managers and Operations Managers.
- Supplier Coordination: Engage strategic suppliers to enhance the commercial and technical content of bids and proposals.
- Cross-Selling: Actively promote sister companies, including Steiner Hygiene and TopTurf, to provide holistic facility solutions.
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Performance Analysis: Provide comprehensive weekly and monthly reports on sales activities, conversion rates, and marketing effectiveness.
- Process Optimization: Identify bottlenecks or weaknesses in the current sales cycle and implement corrective measures.
What You Need to Succeed
Experience & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Sales, Marketing, or Business Development (Essential).
- Track Record: Minimum 3 years of solid experience in Business Development and best-practice sales environments.
- Industry Context: Strong knowledge of the Services Industry (Cleaning, Hygiene, or Facilities Management) is highly preferred.
- Mobility: Valid South African Driver’s License and willingness to travel to client sites.
Technical Proficiencies
- Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) for high-level reporting and presentation drafting.
