Purpose of the Role

At Dis-Chem Life, we don’t just collect data; we use it to drive real-time innovation. We are looking for a Data Analyst to serve as our “rapid-response data explorer.” In this role, you will connect the dots across diverse datasets—policyholder, claims, operational, and market data—to spot opportunities and flag risks before they impact the business.

You will be part of a high-growth team working at the unique intersection of retail and insurance data, a confluence seldom available to most analysts.


Key Areas of Impact

Rapid Exploration & Analysis

  • Pattern Recognition: Investigate datasets quickly to uncover trends, outliers, and actionable insights without over-complicating the process.
  • Comparative Metrics: Analyze performance across time periods, geographies, and product lines to identify growth opportunities.
  • Hypothesis Support: Distill complex findings into clear narratives and suggest hypotheses for observed trends to be tested by senior team members.

Data Engineering & Quality

  • Wrangling: Collect, clean, and validate data from multiple sources to ensure it is “analysis-ready.”
  • Integrity: Promptly resolve data anomalies or inconsistencies to maintain a reliable “single source of truth.”
  • Reporting: Maintain and update high-impact dashboards using tools like Apache Superset, Google Looker, or Tableau.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Ad-Hoc Intelligence: Respond to short-notice analytical requests from leadership with well-reasoned, data-backed answers.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Partner with Marketing, Claims, Operations, and Finance to ensure insights are relevant and timely.
  • Documentation: Assist in defining data standards and processes to ensure transparency across the organization.

What You Need to Succeed

Technical Skill Set

  • SQL Mastery: Strong proficiency in writing SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Data Visualization: Experience with tools such as Apache Superset, Looker, or Tableau.
  • Statistical Logic: A solid understanding of averages, variance, trend analysis, correlation, and simple forecasting.
  • Tabular Excellence: Expert-level Excel skills (Pivot tables, complex formulas, and data organization).
  • Advantageous: Exposure to Python for automation, Windmill for workflow streamlining, or dbt for ETL processes.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Education: B.Sc. or B.Com. in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Track Record: 2–3 years of experience in data analytics, preferably within Finance, Insurance, Healthcare, or Retail.
  • Database Knowledge: Practical experience with relational database management principles.
