🎯 Purpose of the Job
As a General Assistant in the Paint Department, you provide the manual and operational “engine power” needed to keep the production lines moving. Your role is vital in ensuring that roofing products are loaded correctly, quality is monitored in real-time, and the workspace remains safe and organized. You will work closely with machine operators to meet production targets while maintaining the high-quality standards Harvey Roofing is known for.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
Production & Material Handling
- Line Support: Load and offload products on the production lines to maintain the required throughput rate.
- Material Movement: Move raw materials, profiles, and finished products between stations; stack products according to the layout plan.
- Packaging: Strap materials securely for transport and move full or empty containers to designated locations.
- Inventory Support: Assist with pulling or picking materials and ensure the safe storage of all items.
Quality & Technical Monitoring
- Visual Inspection: Identify and isolate non-conforming (damaged or defective) products during the loading/offloading process.
- Process Checking: Monitor production processes to ensure they stay within acceptable standards and report any quality deviations immediately.
- Data Recording: Accurately record production figures, downtime, and wastage.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Standards: Maintain strict adherence to housekeeping and OHS (Health and Safety) standards.
- Inspections: Conduct routine safety inspections and report any unsafe acts or conditions to management.
- Maintenance: Identify and report any maintenance requirements within your designated work area.
✅ Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) or National Certificate.
- Experience: Working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations (Advantageous).
- Licensing: A valid forklift license will be a strong advantage.
- Language: Basic linguistic proficiency; must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Availability: * Prepared to work a system shift cycle.
- Willing to take staggered tea/lunch breaks and work overtime when required.
