🎯 Purpose of the Job
Reporting to the Miner, you will provide critical support to TMM (Trackless Mobile Machinery) Operators to ensure production targets are met safely. This is a hands-on underground role where you will assist with the setup, operation, and minor maintenance of Drill Rigs, Roofbolters, and LHDs. You must be fully licensed to operate TMMs as you will be required to relieve operators during their absence.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
TMM Operational Assistance
- Machine Setup: Assist in setting up machines (Atlas, Sandvik, Boart) and suspending trailing cables to ensure safe operation.
- Panel Support: Install pumps in operating panels and place lifter tubes on bottom holes for drilling.
- Operator Relief: Act as a relief operator for Roofbolters, Drill Rigs, or LHDs when required to maintain production flow.
- Bolting Support: Assist during bolting operations, including additional barring and cable management.
Inspections & Maintenance
- Pre-shift Checks: Conduct thorough inspections of machines and components before every shift to identify non-conformance.
- First-line Maintenance: Perform minor maintenance, such as greasing the boom and changing consumables.
- Lock-out Procedures: Follow strict lock-out/tag-out procedures for faulty equipment and at the end of shifts.
- Reporting: Monitor machine performance against standards and report any technical deviations or breakdown times to the Artisan or Supervisor.
✅ Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 10 / Standard 8 Certificate.
- Licensing:
- Valid Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
- Must be fully conversant and licensed to operate TMM (Trackless Mobile Machinery).
- Experience:
- Completion of a relevant, approved training programme.
- Minimum 3 months practical experience as a Drill Rig, LHD, or Roofbolter Operator in a mining environment.
- Medical: Must be certified medically fit for underground work as per the Mine Health and Safety Act.
