Role Overview

An established leader in the Shipping and Logistics industry is seeking a high-level Imports / Exports Controller to join their Prospecton-based team. This is a senior-level Client Controller role requiring a specialist with a minimum of 7 years of experience in comprehensive clearing processes and technical tariffing.

The ideal candidate will have mastered the nuances of sea, air, groupage, and FCL shipments, demonstrating the ability to manage complex files from registration through to final invoicing in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• File Management: Register and open files on Shipshape; manage full-cycle processing for air, sea, and road (Imports and Exports) through to delivery and invoicing.
• Customs Compliance: Expertly process SAD500 for Imports, Exports, and RIT; handle EUR1 certificates, Shipping Instructions (SI), and fumigation arrangements.
• Specialized Cargo: Process hazardous applications and manage specialized cargo requirements where applicable.
• Operational Oversight: Monitor vessel ATA, stack dates, and all containers currently in stack to ensure zero-delay logistics.
• Financial Control: Request and process third-party invoices; manage disbursement journals for all assigned files.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for clients and suppliers, attending to queries and maintaining proactive communication throughout the shipment lifecycle.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: Matric; additional qualifications in Shipping or Logistics are highly advantageous.
• Technical Experience: Minimum of 7 years’ deep experience in import Bill of Entry tariffing and full import/export procedures (Sea, Air, Groupage, and FCLs).
• Software: High level of computer literacy; experience with Shipshape is preferred.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication; a proactive approach with a strong sense of urgency.
• Attributes: Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a demanding, deadline-driven setting.
