As a Shop Assistant Cashier at Clicks, you are a brand ambassador for South Africa’s leading health and beauty retailer. Your primary goal is to provide fast, efficient, and friendly service at the Point of Sale (POS). You will balance high-speed transaction handling with stock management and administrative duties to ensure a seamless shopping experience for every customer.
๐ Job Objectives
Customer Excellence & Sales
- Service Delivery: Act as a brand ambassador, offering professional advice and resolving customer queries in line with company policy.
- ClubCard Promotion: Actively drive the Clicks ClubCard program to achieve store participation targets.
- Product Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge on health and beauty ranges, current promotions, and in-store events.
POS Operations & Financial Control
- Transaction Management: Control all operational activities at the point of sale, ensuring fast and accurate payment processing.
- Shrinkage Control: Minimize stock losses by enforcing security measures, strict cash controls, and adhering to returns policies.
- Staff Coordination: Support the training and motivation of the cashier team to ensure service standards are met.
Warehouse & Housekeeping
- Stock Management: Ensure effective and safe management of stock from receiving to the shelf.
- Administration: Maintain a high standard of general housekeeping and store administration to ensure a safe shopping environment.
โ Minimum Requirements
Education & Experience
- Essential: Grade 12 (Matric).
- Desirable: Minimum 50% for Mathematics and 50% for English at Grade 12 level.
- External Applicants: Must have a relevant Retail or Business Management qualification.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a customer-facing role, preferably overseeing operations or a small team within a retail/FMCG environment.
Skills & Knowledge
- Financial Literacy: Strong numeracy skills and understanding of financial management principles.
- Retail Savvy: Knowledge of merchandising, promotions, and risk/compliance procedures.
- Leadership: Ability to lead, supervise, and work effectively with people under pressure.
- Technical: Computer literacy and familiarity with POS systems.
