The General Assistant is a versatile support role that ensures the smooth operation of the business unit. From the yard to the sales floor, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of customer service, stock organization, and site safety.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
Customer Support & Loading
- Vehicle Assistance: Assist customers and suppliers with the prompt and safe loading and offloading of building materials.
- Order Preparation: Accurately help prepare and pack customer orders for collection or delivery.
Stock & Yard Management
- Organization: Ensure yard and store stock items are neatly packed, organized, and easily accessible to staff and customers.
- Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and hazard-free environment in the yard and store areas.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Cleaning: Assist with the cleaning (wash bay activities) and safekeeping of company vehicles.
- Inspections: Help ensure company vehicles are presentable and ready for operational use.
Compliance & Safety
- Safety Procedures: Uphold company safety protocols at all times to prevent injury during manual labor.
- Culture: Embody the company values and a “customer-first” attitude in every interaction.
✅ Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) certificate is essential.
- Physical Fitness: Must be physically capable of handling heavy manual labor (lifting, carrying, and moving building materials).
- Knowledge: Basic product knowledge within the building or hardware industry is highly advantageous.
- Skills: Strong communication skills and a professional demeanor.
- Availability: Must be willing to work retail hours, which include weekends and public holidays.
