🎯 Purpose of the Role
You will work closely with the Lead Teacher to create a nurturing and structured learning environment for preschool learners. This role requires a balance of administrative support, active classroom management, and a deep understanding of the “Whole Child” approach. You will be instrumental in ensuring that health, safety, and educational standards are maintained during this high-impact 3-month period.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
Educational Support
- Lesson Implementation: Assist the teacher in the basic planning and execution of daily activities.
- Assessment: Provide verbal input for learner assessments, tracking developmental milestones.
- Classroom Management: Oversee the organization of educational resources and maintain an environment conducive to learning.
Health & Safety
- Child Healthcare: Assist in providing basic healthcare to children in accordance with school regulations.
- Compliance: Ensure all classroom activities align with basic Health and Safety standards.
- First Aid: Act as a first responder for minor injuries (requires valid certification).
Administration
- General Support: Assist with filing, preparation of materials, and general administrative tasks as needed to support the Phase.
✅ Minimum Requirements
- Qualification: NQF Level 2 in ECD or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in an Early Childhood Development (ECD) or teaching environment.
- Professional Registrations (Mandatory):
- SACE Certificate (or official proof of application).
- NCF Certificate.
- First Aid Certificate (must have been updated within the last 2 years).
- Computer Literacy: Proficient in basic office software for administrative tasks.

- Educational Theory: Solid understanding of ECD theory and practical application.
- Curriculum: Familiarity with ELDA’s (Early Learning Development Areas) and the Principles/Aims of the National Curriculum Framework.
