๐ŸŽฏ Purpose of the Job

The General Assistant is the heartbeat of the store floor. Your primary mission is to ensure customers have a seamless shopping experience by keeping shelves fully stocked, prices correctly labeled, and the environment safe and clean. You act as the first point of contact for customer queries and are responsible for the visual standards of your designated aisle.

Customer Service & Advice

  • Assistance: Actively approach customers to provide advice on products and help locate items.
  • Conflict Resolution: Assist with and resolve customer complaints in a professional, friendly manner.

Merchandising & Pricing

  • Planograms: Ensure your area is merchandised exactly according to the store layout and official planograms (visual shelf maps).
  • Bulk Stock: Merchandise bulk areas safely, ensuring heavy items are secured.
  • Pricing: Ensure every product has the correct shelf price label (SPL) to avoid customer frustration at the till.

Safety & Housekeeping

  • OHSA Compliance: Maintain a safe environment using safety gear and reporting any racking or shelving discrepancies to the Store Manager.
  • Cleanliness: Ensure aisles are free of obstacles (boxes/pallets) and keep to the cleaning schedules for staff facilities (Canteen/Toilets).
  • Stock Loss: Monitor and report any damaged stock immediately to minimize financial loss for the branch.

โœ… Minimum Requirements

  • Education & Experience:
    • Option A: Grade 12 (Matric) certificate with no previous work experience.
    • Option B: Minimum Grade 10 (or NQF 3) with at least one year of related work experience.
  • Language: Ability to communicate fluently in English and the dominant local language of Nqutu.
  • Documentation: Valid South African ID or work permit.
  • Availability: Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
