Job Purpose
The Lecturer plays a critical role in the delivery of high-quality education and training. You will facilitate learning, provide student mentorship, and contribute to the academic development of the Foundation Phase discipline. Your mission is to foster a knowledge base that empowers students to become exceptional educators.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Academic Delivery: Presenting curriculum content in both physical and online classroom environments as required.
- Student Mentorship: Facilitating one-on-one consultations to support student progress and academic growth.
- Assessment Management: Marking assessments and providing high-quality, constructive feedback to drive improvement.
- Data-Driven Interventions: Analyzing results at a modular level and implementing specific interventions for “at-risk” students.
- Research & Development: Contributing to the discipline’s knowledge base through ongoing academic research and development.
- Administrative Support: Providing general support to the Academic Department to ensure smooth operational flow.
Minimum Requirements
- Qualifications:
- B.Ed Honours Degree in Early Childhood Development and Learning AND
- B.Ed Degree in Foundation Phase Teaching.
- Experience:
- 1–3 years of industry-specific experience in the Foundation Phase specialization.
- 1–3 years of Lecturing or Tutoring experience in a higher education setting.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Solid understanding of the South African Further Education (FET) and Higher Education (HE) regulatory frameworks.
- Profound knowledge of Teaching-Learning Theory and varied Assessment Methods.
